I was pleased to read that Chico will be leaving the ivory towers. All of the talk is about where he will go or his DROP money that he will receive. GODwin will have plenty of money for his Just For Men touch ups. I for one am glad to see his sorry ass go and hope that AC does the right thing. We cannot have another DickTator run this department into the ground. I would come out of hiding and put in an application, if they announce the opening!

As for me, I have been running "silent scope" for some time. The other board is doing fine, but thought I would post one here for old times sake.

Some of you may have noticed a lack of posting for the last few weeks. No, I'm not in jail or being tracked by the feds. I have been brainstorming for a better way to interact with the readers and let the legitimate readers communicate with one another.

I am currently beta testing a new discussion board and hope that it will be a positive forum for all that wish to comment. The same rules apply there as they do here. No more racist (12 Negroes) posting and who's screwing who. Readers will have to register to post and provide an e-mail address for activation. You can go to Google and create a "trash" e-mail account using false information. That way, you can remain anonymous. This will also allow you to create a screen name that only you will be able to post from. It's first come first serve on the screen names! Be quick, because the heavy hitters (Larry Godwin, Baby Godwin, Lon Paul, etc.) will get scooped up.

No, but we can tell you who he/she isn't. Dirk is not Smallwood. Dirk is not Palmer. Dirk is alive and well, just like the MPD Enforcer 2.0.

The purpose of this blog is and will always be a place for officers to sound off about what is really going on with the Memphis Police Department. A place to publicly out all back channel deals and mistreatment of officers. We may take "breaks" at times to clear our collective heads and redirect our energy for the betterment of the officers.

There's no doubt about it. Memphis is in a bad state no matter how Gibbons and GODwin try to glorify the current climate. Any college kid that has had Criminal Justice 101 knows how the rate fluctuates in the media. One minute it is up, the next down. The full awake in CJ101 knows that the rate is steady. It's the amount of crime REPORTED that causes and ebb and flow.

Our classifications on R&Is cause the rate to constantly be misreported. Janikowski might as well be a janitor with all of the shit he has been shoveling.

Here we go again. Our dipshit, dumb ass, idiotic Dictator speaks. It was announced today about the arrests of two MPD officers. When asked about the arrest by the media, GODwin responded with "I'm a little disappointed in two police officers, but as far as I'm concerned, that's two criminals off the streets."

This is a prime example of why this dumb ass needs to go. Everyone of my fellow brothers and sisters in blue should want this mindless maggot's head on a platter. What happened to due process? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Should our leader (term loosely used) convict any of us in the media before we get a fair trial? I think not.

This is a main reason why we have no faith or trust in our 12th floor arm chair heroes. I hope and pray that the two officers are innocent. I would love to see them have their day in court. Also, I would love to see them sue the shit out of Frayser Boy GODwin for referring to them as criminals. The only criminal I see is a douchebag known as Larry "Chico" GODwin.

Before reading LP's e-mail, I would like to make a few comments. I do not look at IPs, nor do I save them. We have an individual that can retrieve this information ONLY if we have a problem. Meaning, if someone is trying to disrupt this blog. GODwin cannot subpoena this information and he will never be able to retrieve it from us.

Secondly, there are "lurkers" posting on this blog using screen names that belong to other people. It's very easy to do and I will not tell you how. We noticed it during the beginning when someone posted under Dirk's screen name. Now on to the e-mail:

For many reasons, I wish to keep my real name and identity to myself. Apparently you can see ip address but I'm not sure what else, and I am an idiot to even send this email. I had posted back when I first came to this area and even got myself my own email/blog that I was trying to use not attached to anything personal, but some idiot hacked it (most likely one of your friggin idiot comment posters). So I am starting over. Please remove my previous lat prof from the followers as that was me, and I went out and got me a new gmail with a different spelling.

I just wonder why there are so many bad apples in the bunch that spoil it for the good ones trying to do their job. You allow people to post about all the OT they are getting and the amt they make with all their lame comments and no regulation on how it looks for the rest of you guys. So the reason I am emailing is to find out what can happen to one of your "rookie buddies" out there if he/she was to say something about the crap going on during training. Like I originally said, I am in a lateral profession with very similar problems in my own field, but they are cracking down on people who try and get away with a lot of the stuff listed on your site. And it goes all the way up the chain... but I digress. I have a close buddy who is going through some crap right now in your precinct. What should my buddy do? Mind you, there is that police code that is being stuck to about not telling on each other.

Ok, so here is the deal. There is this crappy FTO that I am sure has been doing a crappy job for some amount of time. In stead of doing the job you all are paid to do, the FTO sits in the car or a nice eatery when supposedly out of service for a call in the area - and yet they are not really checking on a car or at the call! That isn't even the worst of it. This lazy mofo has the nerve to get numbers and try to hook up and flirt with those waiting at those eateries and then hang out for who knows how long. Is it right to be out of service for up to 2 hours trying to hook up while that rookie sits there waiting to do a job? Is this how you guys are actually training the new people? Is it acceptable? Is there any regulations in violation? What if that rookie wanted to complain? You all post about not telling on each other and how bad that would be, and yet this stuff happens and give no choice to those trying to learn how to do the job. Does this mean that you just fake it till you make it to avoid making this FTO look bad? I mean come on, who picks up food for their momma and then delivers it ON THE CLOCK? Who sorts out their married life and side sex flings, ON THE CLOCK? Who goes to the store and buys groceries and delivers them outside of the precinct on the opposite side of memphis ON THE CLOCK? all of this is happening while supposedly on a call! And to top it off, if there is a problem, the rookie is blamed? So on the radio the rookie says the correct place where they are located and the FTO will get on and correct the rookie by LYING! WTF!!!!!! What about the FTO leaving early with the little rookie shaking in nicely polished boots in the cop car is waiting to be signal C'd? What is up with the bipolar FTO with moods that swing like a bungee rope and change what kind of day the trainee has? This is insane and pissing me off. And no I am not the person, but I sure know someone in that situation and wish I could tell on him myself. I am sure all you (as it sounds like there is more than one of you logging in as dirk) would find ways to pull me over and give me a hard time for anything. If you want Godwin to clean up his act, why don't you send the message that all you crackpots ought to clean up your own first. No one will ever listen to you guys until you change the childish nature and actually start acting like a bunch of professionals. And that is hard to come by when you are voting for the biggest a$$hole of the month etc.

so I am pissed off as it is insane that my hard work and tax dollars are going to pay a bunch of fat lazy renegade cops who cut out early, lie, cheat and steal.

so what does my buddy do? Are you, dirk, one of these people? Hell, you might be the FTO I'm talking about. I would give you a name, but I know it is public knowledge what trainee is assigned to who. I'm not stupid enough to get my buddy in trouble by doing that. If I could give you more info without having that whole force on my back I sure would. This friggin city is like gotham city and we need a friggin batman to deal with all you jokers!

I just have to reiterate, there are a lot of good cops out there. There are those that are knowledgeable and know all the policy & procedures, but just don't do the job. And there are those that are obviously bad and suck a$$. And of course I HOPE the majority are good guys. My buddy has been corrected by other FTO's who show the right way of doing things and are conscientious. My buddy talks about a lot of positive things going on with those other guys, so I know that there are good ones out there.

I would appreciate if you could get back to me on this. I am tired and had to edit the crap that just came flying off my fingers, so this is the nice version of what I wrote.

I think the media picked up on this story, but I could be wrong. If they did, it was a fleeting moment on a back page. If anyone wishes to fill in the facts, please comment. Also, nobody cares who's gay, who's banging GODwin's daughter, who's banging Bullard, what Obama has done now or any other irrelevant comments. These will no longer be posted. We let you get away with it for months and now it has become annoying to the readers.

Some of you may have noticed an increase of attacks against officers posting on this blog. There are a select few of the ass kissers posting about "whining officers". They are attempting to place a spin on the situation and attacking our blog from a different angle. As of now, it is US vs. THEM. The administration would prefer that our status be US vs. US. Don't fall for their 3rd grade trickery. If we fight amongst ourselves, we cannot fight THEM. We lose our focus and the 12th floor keeps on rolling.

Now to the e-mail we received:

Dirk... First of all, please keep my email Anonymous. I just have a little heads up for you, if you haven't already heard.

So a few nights ago... Shooting call goes out. 2 Airways Delta officers respond. Supposedly they look around, find some empty shotgun shells, and knock on the door. No answer. They clear the scene. Well, about an hour or so later another call comes out, same location. Apparently the news van went to the scene and looked around, found a dead body. They called thinking the MPD might be interested in the info. Well, officers and Lt again make the scene, find a dead guy laying in the middle of a driveway 4 houses down, pistol next to him, blood trail leading back to the location of the initial call. There's also a car in front of the location covered in holes from birdshot. Officers knock on door, door creaks open. They proceed through the house and find a girl hiding in the back who was a witness to the shooting.

Great job guys... clear the call only to have the news channel call and tell you there's a dead guy on the ground.

Larry "Chico" GODwin has been selected as the MPD Enforcer2.0's first Asshole of The Year Award. The competition was tough and some individuals attempted to skew the voting by manipulating the votes. At least one individual wanted Bill Woodard to win this coveted prize. He/she manipulated their ip in an attempt to ensure Woodard's victory.

We recognize GODwin is a complete asshole and no doubt will continue his reign into 2009. Since the Mayor will not listen to what we and the citizens want, there is hope that an indictment will be in order during the first quarter of 2009. A possibility of conspiracy charges and tampering with evidence in the Ashley Scott trial? Maybe charges stemming from his ticket fixing scandal? We are still waiting for the outcome from the City of Memphis ethics committee (or should we say person). Has the media forgotten about this as well?

The crime and corruption in this city should be no joke to anyone. We still live in a free society and should demand more from our elected/public officials. Running a city like a HIGH SCHOOL fraternity should not be allowed. We MUST bring in outside pressure on the elected officials of Memphis. We must take our cause to the national level. That is why I looked at an outside firm (as well as local) to be on my legal team. Memphis officials cannot handle the outside pressure and negative spotlight continually cast on their mistakes. We must bring Washington D.C. to our fight. We must have and outside agency micro-manage our government until it can stand on it's own feet. Enough is enough.

Hello,

   I don't know who you are and don't know what to call you so I'll just say
hello.  I was wondering if you could put a small item on your blog about the
death of George Methvin.  As you may or may not know I worked in Communications
for many years.  George was one of the Communications Supervisors.  He retired
after 33 years of service.  33 years and never called off sick one day.  He was
just a decent, hard working guy that really tried to get along with everyone.  I
know alot of your readers that have been around a while will recognize his name. 
It's my understanding he suffered a heart attack at his sons home today
(Saturday).  I know your blog is not about death notices but George was well
liked and I'm sure alot of folks would like to know about his passing.  I was
told there will be a graveside funeral in Iuka, MS on Monday the 29th.

We would also like to ask that everyone slow down and take it easy this season. There was a recent accident that left an officer critical at the Med. Remember what was preached at the academy. You cannot help anyone if you don't make it there safe. We will NOT place fault on anyone and we will NOT play Monday morning quarterback. Stuff happens and we should learn from it.

I'm sorry that we haven't updated in a while. I've been really busy making extra money for the holidays. Overtime and my second job have kept me away. There has been plenty of focus on our department this week. The media has been all over us like a cheap suit. Everything from residency to the hiring bonuses. I know Chico has been loving the "positive" publicity. For once, something other than BLUE CRUSH has been the focus of conversation.

The media has emailed and asked our thoughts on the recruiting campaign, specifically, what can be done to attract qualified recruits. We haven't had time to respond and don't want to be the sole voice of the rank and file. I do believe that the best recruiting tool would be to get rid of the current administration. Second, we need a promotion process NOW. No bullshit excuses about HR and Essex. No crap about not having the money for the promotion process. No crap from the double talker Sewell (**side note, Sewell doesn't represent us. He only represents his own interest and getting ahead). Third, look at morale boosting alternatives. This could come in the form of having a take home car program for uniformed patrol. It doesn't need to be just for the highest ticket count, I mean Officer of the Month. Take the top 3-5 senior officers on a shift and give them a take home car. We all know that the byproduct would be the public confidence gained in seeing more marked cars on the street. Anytime an officer would be in their car they would be on duty without overtime assessed to the city. Per policy, anyone with a take home car MUST be available to handle any emergency situation (carry duty weapon and radio) and respond accordingly.

I already know what the administration would say. "I didn't have a take home car and neither should they". Typical of the jealousy that runs from the top down. For the outsiders that don't understand, the administration is not just the Director. It is generally the top 3 tiers of our department. Director/Deputy Director, Deputy Chiefs and Colonels. These people impose policy and have achieved their positions due to who (not what) they know.

We would like for you to tell us what you think would be a good idea as a morale booster. We know Chico reads this blog daily. I don't think he would ever take a suggestion from a post on this blog, but we could only hope. We could also hope that his ulcer causes him to medically retire.

I trust everyone had a good time last night at the MPA party. I had a complete blast! I am getting tired of the Pipkin building. There should be plenty of other locations where we can have this event. A DJ was much better than some hack band doing shitty renditions of Kool and The Gang. The food was ok, but some things were substandard and cold (catfish). The event coordinators should have stayed on the caterer's ass.

As usual, plenty of drinks were available for all to savor. I also enjoyed the talk about this blog. I spoke with may of you last night and received good feedback. Yes, we spoke without me comming out and saying I'm Dirk. You guys looked good in your gators and 3 button suits. I don't think there were enough furry hats like last year. Anyway, tell us what you thought about the party and what suggestions you have for next year. Happy holidays, Dirk.

Was our badge tarnished before we put it on?

Have you ever wondered why there are so many of us that hate this place? Have you asked yourself, "we does that guy stay if he hates his job"? It may be that we cannot get hired anywhere else. As some of us may know, being employed by the MPD may have been one of our biggest mistakes.

The Memphis Police Department has been getting plenty of bad press, courtesy of Larry "Chico" Godwin. The majority of the United States has heard of the crazy shit that has been going on with us lately. From purported misappropriations by our association to Saddam GODwin, it has all been in the media. Lack of promotions, dropping requirements and consistent cronyism have caused us to become like the New Orleans Police Department of the 90's.

If you don't believe that we have a bad reputation, apply to Nashville and be prepared for a hearty laugh. Hell, apply anywhere and see what happens. Most of us (myself included) have been trying to leave for years. We make it through the process only to get knocked out by some comment made by a supervisor or bullshit in our IAB files. I have applied for over 15 jobs in the past few years. Guess what? I'm still here with you.

Why does the MPD hold us back? Why do supervisors hold a grudge? Why does this adminsitration hate any officer that wants to have a better career? Why is GODwin so damn jealous? The current leadership sends the message of "if I wasn't afforded the oppurtunity, this officer shouldn't get a chance to move on from MPD". The 12th floor has more of a hold on our lives than you think! If someone in a position of authority doesn't like you, your screwed. If you try to leave, they'll screw you. Why? Because they can.

I guess that I am doomed to remain here with the rest of you. Rotting away at the Starbucks. Reading Special Orders with only the chosen few on the front page. The back is reserved for the non-conformists. Watching the select few, with no time on, continually getting "cake" assignments. The only thing keeping me sane is this forum that I have to speak freely to the rest of my brothers and sisters. The thought of each time I pass Osama Bin GODwin in the hallways of 201 and thinking to myself, "self, if only this dumb ass had a clue". Watching this DIP DONG of a Director get in front of a microphone and look/sound like an idiot. These tiny slices of joy make my day.

Memphis Crimefighter's Blog

I'm sure that some of you have seen or heard about the new Memphis Police Department's "be positive" blog. This blog was created as a "Yin" to our "Yang" in the crime universe known as Memphis, Tennessee. A word of caution. Be careful with this one. A new blog appears out of nowhere with an anonymous blogger going by the handle "Blue Devil". The blog is pro-GODwin and 12th floor REMFs. This could be a RTCC setup or public affairs attempt to improve the MPDs image. This is a typical management PR stunt. They are more concerned about the image of the department than the officers working the frontline.

With this being said, I'm not starting a blog war. I only want to pass on to our faithful readers to be careful about what you post. Be careful and I look forward to seeing everyone at the MPA party next Friday. If you haven't picked up your tickets, make sure you get them soon. Some of you have purchased Enforcer clothing to wear that night and we thank you for your support.

We received the following e-mail from an applicant that was turned away:

I don't normally do this but I am running out of options and time. My name is Jonathan. I know as crazy as this sounds but I applied to be with the MPD in May and got my rejection letter saying I didn't "progress" to the next step the day before
Thanksgiving. Then I heard that MPD was discriminating against males that are white and over 21 and were using the psychology test to fail them. While I normally don't believe rumors, it would explain my rejection considering I have a perfect history and set up for joining. There is no way I should of failed but the background investigator wouldn't respond to my calls until almost 2 weeks later and he didn't know either. I know their busy but having to call multiple times and leaving voice mail isn't right, especially when you are a 3rd generation to join the MPD.
All I want to know is if there is some discriminating going on and what can I do about it? I only have a week left before I run out of time and miss my window to go into the academy.I know this is what makes everything crazy, I still believe I can help save this city before
the National Guard puts this city on lock down like they in Arkansas.

Here's the best advice I can give you. Forget about joining the MPD. Most of us have been trying to leave for years. I have heard from numerous officers that have been turned down for employment because they worked for the Memphis Police Department. We are getting the reputation of being a "shit hole" department. Imagine that. SHIT HOLE LEADER + SHIT HOLE ADMINISTRATION=SHIT HOLE DEPARTMENT. We couldn't get jobs in loss prevention at Target if we wanted.

Find another department in another city. We use to tell people to go to the county, but they are still surrounded by shit. Like your mom use to say, "you can't shine a turd". Maybe some day we will turn this department around.

This is one of the main reasons why we cannot get enough qualified applicants. The department is kind of synonymous with college football recruiting. If you had a choice, would you go to the scrub school or the one with a chance of a NCAA championship? Chico has made us the laughing stock of law enforcement. I regularly talk with officers from all over the world via this blog. They cannot believe the amount of BS that we have to take here in Memphis.

In the end, we are all responsible for our future. You may not have the power to change your past, but you have the ability to change your future. As of this writing, there is no future with the MPD. No Hong Kong Phooey has been actor nor random commercial can change that fact. This is why I'm with the MPD.

Basically, the City Council has come to terms with the fact that Chico is a poor example of a leader, manager and police officer. Crime has been kicking Larry's ass since he rose to power at MPD. Crime has steadily risen since Chico created all of his buzz words and bullshit whoop de doo initiatives.

Yes Sheriff, we will be glad to work with you for a common goal. The peace and safety that is due the citizens of Memphis. We do not get into turf battles or care about which uniform looks better. We will and have been working side by side for a long time. Ego maniacal dictators, like Saddam GODwin, will have their day in the ropes. Hopefully, Lawrence's day will come soon. His career is in the dumps, with no hopes of being rescued.

Our mail bag has been getting some extra work these last 2 weeks. We apologize in the delay in publishing some stories. Some of the reader's emails have been sent to the "spam" folder for further review. We received an email today that deserves immediate attention. Normally, I would try to check the reports to see if one has been filed in this matter. After a lengthy discussion with my partners, I have decided that it was too risky to check under my IBM. Does anyone have GODwin's login information? Alan? Oh that's right. If Chico's IBM was associated with doing anything productive, I'm sure it would set off all of the system alarms.

Anyway, please read the below email and lets see if uniformed patrol can catch these assholes. Of course, it would help to know what kind of vehicle information or suspect information to look for? Anyone with spare time should swing through the pawnshops in their ward and check for that MAC book and maybe the old double barrel.

To whom this may concern.

I was affected by a home invasion and robbery on Friday morning, in broad daylight. Two black males came into my home while i was still in the back bedroom drinking my coffee and reading my emails, checking my online banking and my online poker account. My dogs are still just puppies they are 5 months old, this is relevant because all week they have been barking and growling uncontrollably, which i chalked up to puppies new bad habits, BOY was i wrong. So back to the incident that morning, my puppies started howling in bed, i immediately got up thinking he had to go outside to make potty. When i got to my bedroom door, i was sucker punched and pushed on my butt, and they begin to tie my hand and mouth up. The robbers wore no mask, at the realization of this i thought they would kill me after they were done with me. After i was punched and before i was pushed down, the robber put his hand over my mouth and squeezed my jaw, it still hurts today, but as he did this, i could smell a strong metallic odor of blood on his hands, making the whole ordeal all the more scary. The two of them took turns watching me while the other ransacked the house. They sexually assulted me and told me that they were taking my wallet because they were crypts( i don't even know how to spell that) and they will come after me and my family, if i called the cops. The things that they said to me was so crude i would rather not relive the whole ordeal even thinking about it upsets me to the point of losing what reality is and how i am going to cope with these new demons. They stole every firearm i had in the house, including a heirloom double barrel rifle that has been in the family since the 1900's; when they knocked my down, I was laying no more than a foot away from my loaded 357. I would have shot it even with my wrists tied up, but i was scared that they would definitely shoot me then and i would just be another victim in this city full of homicide and violent crime. As these thieves moved me from room to room they were touching all kinds of things that could have been fingerprinted, i know i am not csi but i am pretty sure they could have gotten prints off many things. They even stole a car. All of this, i suppose in this fucked up city is normal, but here is the kicker. A woman on her way to work saw the men jump over the back fence, it faces Perkins and during rush hour commuters can see my whole back yard,and she knew that something wasn't right, she called the police, they never came. i was tied up for more than an hour, these people could have been apprehended and i would have been saved. The part that you will find most interesting is that, the way that they processed the crime scene and how long it actually took the police to arrive on the scene. write me back if you want more details, i would love to tell you the whole story. I have friends on the force and they are advising me to do the right thing and tell the detective Greenwod everything, but i just don't think that it matters. they left blood on my wall that no one took a sample of, they were more than 20 policemen in and out of the house contaminating the crime scene and the women cop that came in first had the audacity to talk about what was being served for lunch as discussed in roll call. Not a moment did she spend with me and ask me questions about the assult in privacy. this happened on Cornelia lane on Friday. look it up, please. they took my iphone 3g, which screams tracking device but no one is doing anything about that and also a macbook pro, with lo jack but i was dumb and had that info on the computer. the car they took was not mine , my boyfriend mother was hiding it from the repo man and it was the perfect car to steal because no one had any information about it. The witness that came forward was pissed because she came to the house at 4 in the afternoon after the cops were long gone, she could not believe the sheer negligence;l after doing the right thing she expected to hear that these bad men were put away and that i was okay The perp came back by the house yesterday on foot and i was alarmed freaked out and called the police, again by the time they came he was long gone. There is a cop that lives 3 doors down, his cops car is always parked outside the house, i have been over there three times to tell hm what happened to me and every time he doesn't answer the door. Alright. I believe our morale is finally in the shitter. Could it get any lower? Maybe, but we don't think so. It is basically non-existent. Don't let the OCU/CAT pogues or 12th floor REMFs try to turn officers against this blog. They have been making posts at a high rate the past few days.

This city belongs to the citizens. It also belongs to us if you stop and think. I have read some of the recent comments and noticed a pattern. We are fed up with our leadership and direction. We are tired of the few that get preferred treatment after buying a few rounds for GODwin, Et Al. We are tired of the thugs dropping false complaints on us and IAB's inability to conduct a proper investigation.

What is the answer? I have a few suggestions. Hell, most of us have some idea of what we would like to change. Right now, we need motivation. Motivation in the form of leaders who care. Lts. who will stick up for their shift and tell the front office to get bent when they are "charge happy". We need an IAB unit that will do an honest, fair and non-political investigation when a complaint rolls into the office. As a general rule of thumb, they should use the following philosphy: If the person complaining is a frequent flyer, gang member or just plain pulling shit out of their ass, lock them up! False complaints are on the rise and we have no protection. I am sick and tired of EVERYBODY bucking the system at the expense of officers. When was the last time a defendant charged with assault on a police officer was actually convicted? The DA's office almost immediately drops that charge and Harry Schwartz goes free. I've seen it a million times. When the prosecutor goes to negotiate with a defense attorney, they always "nolle prose" the assault charge. What message does that send? If you get caught, fuck the police. Fight and flee (or attempt).

In closing, we all have a choice to make. Stand up for our rights (and what is right) or bow down and continue to get shit on. I don't know about you, but I've been eating this shit for years. I am not advocating that anyone derelict their duty to protect the citizens. We don't need that and Memphians deserve better. What is a good way to get the attention of the 12th floor? COURTESY TICKETS!!! You are still doing your job, but the revenue stays in the citizens pocket where it belongs. Make Chico explain why the revenue provided by police services has dropped. If you don't want to write tickets, don't. Make sure you have plenty of specials listed on your log sheet to account for all 8 hours of work. The city is one big hot spot that needs checking. Finally, the next time a supervisor asks you to change a robbery to a misdemeanor theft with an assault, refuse. If they don't like it, let them complete the report. $88,000!

Amos Maki of the Commercial Appeal reported today that GODwin's lawsuit will cost the taxpayers AT LEAST $88,000. I say make Chico pay the bill. He created this scam in an attempt to shut us down. GODwin holds the sole responsibility in this matter. His dumb ass ego got the best of him and his hummingbird ass overloaded his alligator mouth. Well? We are still waiting. The citizens of Memphis were supposed to be shown how important this lawsuit was once it became unsealed.

We stand at a crossroads now. To sue or not to sue? That is the question. I hate that the taxpayers (and myself) will be responsible for this brain fart. Chico has violated our rights and needs to be held accountable. I'd say about 20 million dollars worth of accountability. Here's the rub. The taxpayers (myself included) would be stuck with the bill at the end of the day. Would it cause an increase in our property taxes? Cause a city service to be unfunded next year? Cause Dobbins to lose his king trash man job to make the City's ends meet? We don't have the answers, but we are calculating the risks associated with a counter suit. First and foremost, the risks to the officers of MPD and the taxpayers. They (both) will be our primary concern and wish no illwill towards either.

Two things need to pass with the $88k bill. #1. GODwin needs to personally pay this bill. Not OCU, nor any other MPD "discretionary" fund. #2. Chico needs to be immediately terminated! The citizens of Memphis may be happy footing the bill if we got rid of GODwin in return. Hang up the "Just for Men" Lawrence. You will need the spare money for your retirement. You JACKASS!

After responding to the interview questions from Bianca Phillips, I was a little disappointed that she really didn't use anything I gave her. So out of fairness, I am posting our Q&A so everyone can read what was said. The exchange is listed below:

Explain the different legal actions the city had against the blog. I’m not even really sure the difference between a legal petition and a subpoena. The City of Memphis and Larry Godwin filed a legal petition in Chancery court. The petition was a complete line of bull. Godwin used the illegal lawsuit in an attempt to illegally obtain my identity through the use of threats. The subpoena came as an action of the petition, i.e. in support. The subpoena to AOL was shot down like a turkey on Thanksgiving by AOL's legal office. My legal counsel was also instrumental in having this action killed.

When were each of the actions resolved? When were each of the actions originally brought about? Shortly after the complaint was published in the media (early September). It appears that the city selected their legal team from those at the bottom of their graduation list. The attorney for the city filed a copy of the complaint UNSEALED in Virginia and was given to local media. Godwin kept saying everyday "I think the citizens of Memphis will understand why we had to do this once the documents are unsealed". Well, they did and Godwin had egg all over his face. It made him look like a complete idiot, who's feelings were hurt that his officers were talking bad about him. I believe the term is egomaniacal. Mayor Herenton finally had enough of this fiasco and told the attorneys to pull the plug before the water gets any hotter. The actions were started in April 2008, shortly after we began publication and became syndicated on the web.

How were they resolved? Did a judge decide the city was wrong in both cases? Or the city drop the actions?The City dropped their actions.

Does the city owe any money to MPD Enforcer as a result of a judge’s order? I'm still discussing that with my legal team. The judge didn't order and funds to be turned over. The final document stated that ALL costs will be paid by the CITY OF MEMPHIS. That means the taxpayers get stuck with the frivolous lawsuit tab. I would like to request that someone in the media do some digging and find out just how much this cost the taxpayers.

Did you have to spend any money to fight the actions?Yes we did. I'm working on how to recoup those expenses in a counter suit. My main problem is anonymity. Once I start filing documents, my identity could be revealed. As I told Godwin some months ago, he will know my identity only when the City places it on a court ordered check! I would love to file action around the 8 figure range, but the taxpayers will get stuck with that bill as well. We may just go after Godwin personally since his actions were the driving force behind the lawsuit. The citizens of Memphis pay for Larry's mistakes everyday. They shouldn't have to keep paying for a Director that doesn't care about the people he is charged to protect.

What does this sort of treatment of the blogging press by the city police look like to the rest of the nation? The rest of the nation cannot believe the dictatorship that runs the City of Memphis. I receive e-mails on a daily basis from people all over the world. Nobody can believe that legal action would be brought against an American for speaking freely in America. We are still in America, right? Larry Godwin has single handedly sent us back to the 1700's. What a moron. I think it's time for another "Tea Party".

Will the actions have any long term effects on what you post on the blog? Will you still use the Blue Crush logo, etc.? Will you supress the posts? Or will it have any effect at all? We are still up and running full steam. There has been no action to require us to "cease and desist".

Blue Crush is a joke. Officers are consistently told to place a lesser offense on their reports in order to make it look like violent crime is down. I have personally been told in the past to change a strong armed robbery (violent felony) to a misdemeanor assault with a theft.

Godwin must have used a paralegal to file his trademark with the State of Tennessee. Godwin doesn't own the trademark, the City of Memphis does. Further, it doesn't apply to apparel. Even further, the term Blue Crush is used as a parody of a failing crime fighting tool. If you notice, it hasn't been used in the media as much as it has in the past. Score "1" Dirk, "0" Godwin.

He is now trying to ramp up the image of the Real Time Crime Center. Any fool knows that a video camera isn't going to deter crime. It will only capture the act and MAY assist in the prosecution IF the video is any good. Convenience stores have had VHS cameras in their stores for years. They still get robbed. It will be another failed attempt for Godwin to make it look like he is doing something positive for Memphis.

He needs to focus on doing something positive for the officers and increase morale. Once morale increases, the level of police services increases for the citizens of Memphis. This is a "no funds required" action that will be extremely effective. Of course, GODwin is operating on a "no brains required" platform. He is more concerned about how good he thinks he looks than the quality of life for Memphis.

If Herenton doesn't fire Godwin, we must fire Herenton. Cut off the corrupt head of the snake and the body will follow.

Critics of the Memphis Police Department (MPD) can now wear their opinions on T-shirts that read, "Blue Crush: Displacing Crime, One Block at a Time" and "Real Time Crime Center: More Efficient at Doing Nothing."

Earlier this year, the MPD filed a lawsuit against an anonymous blogger, alleging a trademark violation over Blue Crush parody T-shirts and bumper stickers being sold on the MPD Enforcer blog. The blog has long been critical of the department and MPD director Larry Godwin.

The suit, filed by the city in May and withdrawn in September, alleged that "Dirk Diggler," the handle used by the author of mpdenforcer20.blogspot.com, used the blog "to misappropriate the image, likeness, and name of Director Godwin and the City of Memphis' Blue Crush trademarks."

It also claimed that Diggler endangered the life of an undercover officer by posting a picture of the officer on the blog. The photo was later removed from the site.

In July, the city sent a letter to Zazzle.com, an online T-shirt printer, asking them not to print shirts with the Blue Crush logo or Godwin's likeness.

"We communicated with Zazzle, and they were persuaded that there was no trademark violation," said Paul Alan Levy, an attorney with the Washington-based Public Citizen Litigation Group who represented Diggler in the case. "Now the stuff is back up."

The shirts, which have been viewable in an advertising box on the blog for a little over a month, feature "Blue Crush" written in blue in a font different from the one the MPD uses. Levy says the MPD's trademark rights to the phrase are questionable since their uses are non-commercial.

"The FBI is not a trademarked name because it's used for a government agency, and I think the same would be true for Blue Crush," Levy said. "But it's plainly a fair-use issue here. It's used as commentary, not for purposes of confusing people about whether the MPD is author of this thing."

Attorney David Bearman, who represented the city in the case, referred all questions to Mayor W.W. Herenton's assistant Toni Holman-Turner. Asked why the city withdrew its lawsuit, Holman-Turner would not discuss the trademark issue.

"Our main concern was to have the picture of the [undercover] officer removed," Holman-Turner said.

Holman-Turner was also unable to provide information on how much money the city spent during the three months of litigation against the blogger.

"I think the city ended up being embarrassed by the whole thing," Levy said. "They got slammed in the press and they knew they'd be slammed in court if they litigated [it]."

With the news of Dobbins' daughter being terminated at the request of Chico GODwin, a tiny spark of denial may be creeping up in the postings. Some of the readers feel that Earnie Dobbins should have been the Director instead of Chico. NO WAY, NO HOW. Neither of these dumb ass goof balls should be placed in a position of leadership over the men and women of the Memphis Police Department. "DumbE" Dobbins should not have made it as high as he did. Most of us remember the fabled SGT's test (no, the test is not a myth). Big "E" gave all of his TACT officers (only the ones in the Afro Police Association) an advanced copy of the promotional video that was to be used. He was caught red handed and reprimanded. CROOKED, CROOKED, and CROOKED. Now we know why WWW.Herenton is taking care of him. Birds of a feather or maybe they were frat brothers.

By the way, all of those TACT officers got promoted during that exam process. I see them on the street today and I am disgusted. Lie, cheat, and steal should be written on their clubhouse door.

Is Thad Matthews the new Medical Examiner for Shelby County?

I know that most visitors are familiar with Thad and some have ended up here based on his blog. Has anyone seen his latest bullshit ramblings? Thud has done it again with his ITT tech (sorry students) certificate in photography. He has plastered images all over his blog in regards to the Reginald Pointer shooting.

Thud has used his $2 Sharpie in an attempt to mislead his readers. Thud is the ultimate conspiracy theorist. The bottom line is, death is violent. Things happen to a body that only a trained medical examiner can best theorize. The bruising, cuts and other wounds could have been ante mortem (before death) and up to 24 hours before contact with officers.

The most laughable statement in his whole argument is that possibility that these "injuries" could have been caused by a police "nightstick". Well, we use police batons and I haven't carried mine since it was issued. In fact, it's still collecting dust out in my garage today. The police baton has and always will be a liability. That's why we don't carry them on a regular basis. Sure, we are issued this tool and required to have it in our patrol car. Most of us wouldn't be caught in public swinging one of those things around. Use of baton (legally) equals lawsuit no matter which way you cut it.

We applaud the officers for doing a fine job. It's never good when deadly force comes into play. I'd rather see a criminal come out on the short end of the stick. As for Reggie not committing a crime, running from the po po is a crime. If you have done nothing wrong, why run? Maybe to get rid of your burglary tools or that Celine Dion CD that you accidentally grabbed thinking it was 3 Six Mafias greatest hits. The wording can be hard to see when digging through someone's glove box at 2 AM.

Don't think we are supporting or standing up for GODwin or the Mayor on this one. We are standing strong with the officers that had to make a split second decision in the fight for life.

State of the Enforcer 2.0.

Recently, I have received many e-mails and seen the comments about the Enforcer 2.0's status. Let me lay some of the rumors to rest.

First, the lawsuit that GODwin and the City of Memphis brought against us is OVER. There is no underlying issues in court and nothing pending. We won, Larry lost. There has been NO gag order or any type of agreements. Our speech remains free and we will continue the good fight. We have not been shaken up, nor have we curbed our subject matter. We will continue to post topics that are of concern to the rank and file within MPD.

Second, the fire has NOT died down with our posts. We are still determined to oust Chico and any future "leader" that is out for their own interest. You can have all of your First 48's and narc shows, but Uniformed Patrol is the backbone of the department. We will continue to stand together and fight for what is right. A fight against the nepotism and bullshit that constantly emits from the 12th floor. We will continue to have each others backs as long as you are not one of the good ol boys.

Finally, we are here FOREVER! Don't worry if you haven't seen a post in a day or two. We are busy chasing down leads and verifying facts before throwing out some bullshit just to have filler. As stated before, we are not a daily news outlet with deadlines. We will post issues/stories as they happen. The "Blue Flu" could be for real!

Meet your new cold weather headgear. We are not going to harp on this since the media is picking up the story. This article is mainly for the rookies that still don't understand how the P&P works.

Don't stress about dumb ass half-brained attempts from the 12th floor to curb the wear of the watch cap. Temps will be low, especially for the "A" shift. But who's going to see you at 3 am when it's dark outside? Chico? HAHAHA! He's probably on his third wet dream about how great he is.

Keep your watch cap (or whatever will keep you warm) close at hand. Nobody can tell you how to survive when you are freezing. No form of direction from the 12th floor can tell when you are freezing your ass off. They sit in a climate controlled office all day.

Use common sense. If you are on a hot call and know that a Lt. might be coming by, take it off. It's as simple as that. Roll it up at stuff it in your uniform "Ralph Cramden" hat. Tell them it's a hat liner if you wish.

With crime running rampant in a city run by fools, the biggest problem they have is what we where on our head? Give us a break. I know we shouldn't be wearing "FuBu"or "Colts" logos on the headgear. Did you notice the big ass GORGONZ logo in the back of this fuzzy clam? Use a lot of tact and a little diplomacy. The policy was created as another catch all. If they can't charge you for something good, they will say "well, you were wearing unapproved headgear". I'd hate to be the first one charged, but the focus should be on the charging party. What type of supervisor will bust your balls (sorry ladies) for trying to stay warm? Maybe we all could name a few company men/women. One thing is for sure. I foresee record uses of sick time this winter. If you think you have the biggest brass balls in the room, claim OJI.

We all know about the bullshit promotional exam slated for next year. I'm willing to bet my pension that Greaser II will be eligible and make it the first time around. Just wait and see. I was watching a movie on the computer, at my friend’s apartment, about 1:45AM; I heard a large truck drive by. I walked outside, I called my friend Marcellus and talked to him about the strange activity, and I watched them load up a older gray sedan onto a flat bed tow truck and leave from the leasing office, a white camaro flowed the truck out.
I Did not see anyone or any other cars at the office from where I was. I got into my car and drove up to the leasing office to see what had happened.
As I was approaching the office, I could see a marked MPD police Charger. There where no lights flashing, and no Police officers around, I drove past the Police car, a motorcycle and a Green SUV parked off to the side, I believe the Green SUV was the security Car. a Yellow Firebird was off to the side of the drive.
A Uniformed Hooah Security guard, white male, wearing black pants and a gray polo shirt, steeped in front of my car and told me to stop, I stopped and rolled down my drivers side window. He told me to get out of the car. I asked what for? He told me again to get out of the car. I told him no, that I would not get out of my car for a security guard.
I rolled up my window and pulled forward, another white male in the yellow Firebird pulled out in front of me, and blocked me in, I put my car in reverse, a black male security guard, hit my drivers side window with his flashlight and said that if I did not roll my window down that he would brake the glass and pull me out, he was wearing black pants and a gray button down shirt, dress belt, silver beaded necklace with the I.D. turned around, and a small silver badge on his right hip.
I stopped, and rolled the window down about 5 inches, he asked me for my I.D. I told him I did not have it with me, he asked me for my name, I asked what for? He asked me for my address, I asked what for? He put his fingers in my window and held my window down, and told a female to mace me.
At the same time another male is pulling on my passenger side door handle trying to get inside my car. The female sprays the mace into my ear, eyes, nose, mouth and hair. I screamed, stop! stop! someone please help! I never saw the female or what she was wearing.
I heard the male security guard say “oh shit” and pulled his fingers out of my window. Marcellus was still on the phone with me, and he told me to leave as fast as I could.
I rolled the window up, and hit the gas, going in reverse as fast as I could, the black male security guard and the female, where beside my car, on the drivers side, the male hit the side of my car and my windows with his flashlight as I pulled away, and when I got around the circle I heard 2 shots and my drivers side window shattered, and my driver side front tire blew out.
Marcellus told me to go to the Fire station for help, I drove to the station, about ½ mile away and banged on the door for someone to let me in, a Firefighter came to the door and asked what happened, I told him I had been maced, someone shot at me, and I cant breath, I think there trying to kill me.
He let me inside and got me a cold wet towel, another Firefighter had me sit down and asked what had happened, I told them that security had stopped me, and tried to force me out of my car, they Maced me, and as I was leaving someone shot at me. I told them I was scared for my life.
I called my brother and told him what happened and asked him to come and help me.
One of the Firefighters walked outside and looked at my car, and about 10 minuets later, a MPD police car pulled up, both Firefighters walked outside to talk to him, the Officer came inside and asked me if the white sedan was my car, I said yes it is. He asked me where my weapon was, I said I do not have a weapon, they Maced me, and shot at me. The Officer said that a call went out that a small white sedan had shot at MPD Officers and they had returned fire. I told him again that I did not have a weapon.
The officer went back outside and other officers arrived, they asked me to come outside and talk to them, they took my car key, and my cell phone away from me.
Officer Davis put me in the back of his Police car. After about 30mins of being in the back of the car, Officer Davis came back to the car, I asked him if I could have my phone, and make a call. He said no.
About this time my brother had come up to the station, I asked if my Brother could get some numbers out of my phone and make some calls for me. He said no. I asked if I could make any calls at all, He said no.
And he steeped back out of the car. A hour passed before he came back to the car, I asked him for some paper towels or napkin or water or something to get the Mace out of my eyes, he said no.
I asked him if I could see my car and the damages, he said no. But he did take photos and show me them on his phone.
5:25am another Officer arrived and put me in handcuffs to take me downtown. I told him that I have a shoulder injury and asked if he could put the cuffs in front of me, he said no.
I was taken to 201 Poplar, and I was handcuffed by my ankle to a bench. About 8:30 am Detective Chatman came and walked me down the hall to a room, he asked me to read my Miranda rights out loud and sign the paper and date it.
He then told me I was under arrest for Aggravated Assault. He then asked me for my statement and typed it up, printed it out and asked me to sign and date, and note of the time, 9:50 AM.
Detective Chatman told me that the black male security guard was a MPD officer and that I tried to run him over with my car.
I then sat in the room, still handcuffed by my ankle to a chair. Detective Chatman came back to get me around 11:20 AM he told me I was going to be taken to Jail East. I asked him to call my Brother and tell him, what I was arrested for, and where they where taking me. He called my brother, and then I was transported to Jail East about 12pm.
I was striped searched, the transporting officer stood outside the window and watched as I was removing my cloths.
After that I was told to go sit down after I got back dressed.
I called my Dad and he said they where trying to get me out and wanted to know what they could do, I said I don’t know but I had been trying to call them all day and no one would let me make any calls.
I called my Mom at 4 PM and she said she was at the bail bondsman and they would come and get me soon.
6pm they called me back to change cloths and go to my cell, where I finally got to take a shower and wash the Mace off of my face.
Around 9:15pm they called me and told me my parents where there to get me.
9:30pm I left with my parents.

It took me 7 days to get my car back. MPD and CSI had broken out the driver side window and left if uncovered during 3 days of rain. They had taken my driver side wheel and rim off and left my car sitting on its axel.
There are several dents along the sides of my car and on the roof of the car.
My front bumper has been dragged and will need to be replaced.
I have had to replace the entire driver’s side door due to damages. And the inerter has substantial water damage.

I had a number of things stolen out of my car while it was in Police custody, including $300 cash, gift cards ranging in $5, to $15. An ipod nano, a 2cell Maglight flashlight, a pairing knife, small crowbar, and my car’s jack.
Also my one and only Car key* witch I gave to the officers at the Fire station was also Lost or Stolen by MPD.

Because the Jack had been stolen, I had to get a Tow truck to come and get my car.
And I have had a hard time getting back and forth to work and court appointments with out my Car.

I have had to miss work due to not having my car. and my Mom and Dad have both missed work to take me to court appointments.

MPD ribbons vs. military awards.

Has anyone ever noticed how our ribbons are similar to those awarded by the United States military? Could we be disrespecting the men and women who earned these ribbons? Could we be violating a federal law?

Title 18 U.S.C., Section 702 states the following:

Whoever, in any place within the jurisdiction of the United States
or in the Canal Zone, without authority, wears the uniform
or a distinctive part thereof or anything similar to a distinctive
part of the uniform of any of the armed forces of the United
States, Public Health Service or any auxiliary of such, shall be
fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or
both.

At the least, I feel we are disrespecting those who served in the armed forces and received the Purple Heart medal. We get a "Purple Heart" like ribbon for not wrecking a squad car. What the hell is that? Who's idea was it to add more items to our uniform? Could it be someone who never served in the military? Could it be the same someone claiming to have "walked through rice patties in Vietnam"? What a disgrace.

We are still trying to track down the information on an A/D committed on duty. We received an e-mail, but have not been able to confirm anything. Maybe this is another cover up for an officer that has the right connections. If anybody has the inside scoop, please comment.

Did you hear about the accidental discharge at Crump and Phelan in the west end? All the details I have heard are that a f/b day shift (also west) was working a GHSO detail and running radar or supposed to be running radar and had a accidental discharge and fired a shot through either a squad car window or a private vehicle. It all happened about 9pm Monday or Tuesday. Now exactly how do you have a accidental discharge through a car window?

The day it happened all sorts of 12th floorer were called to Crump and Phelan wth a MHA housing LT. I heard through a MHA officer that the female officer was actually under arrest by the MHA Lt. and that was why 402 and the Duty Chief were called there. The MHA officer who told me this wouldn't get his facts wrong, so I'm wondering if this is a cover-up for the day shift officer.

Hey everybody. I just picked up the Memphis Flyer and found that we were awarded 2nd place in their readers poll for Best Memphis Blogger. I find it ironic that Thad Matthews was voted 3rd! I know many devoted readers do not like Thad and I have issues with some of his postings, but he had a minor role in this blog's creation. Ok, don't stop reading now.

Before this blog was started, I never really new what a blog was or how to operate one. After hearing all of the drama surrounding Thad at the beginning of the year, I went and checked out his blog. I then took it upon myself to learn about blogging and created the MPD Enforcer 2.0.

As most of you old heads are aware, the original Enforcer was hosted on Geocities back in the 90's. The old Enforcer kind of fade away and gave birth to this "2.0" version.

I guess this is my acceptance speech, since I didn't appear last night at the awards party. A big thanks goes out to the original Enforcer crew and the idiots on the 12th floor for giving us fodder. Where do these assholes come from? The breed of supervisors within the MPD are amazing! Truly, the bloodline has been flawed. GODwin is giving birth to more brain dead leaders by the dozen.

We received unconfirmed information today, that a Major at the S/E precinct (Airways station, whatever) has implemented his own SICK POLICY. Everyone knows that if you are off 3 or more days, you must have a doctor's note upon return to duty. Major Hardy of the Charlie and Delta shifts has imposed a new law with regards to the sick policy. Hardy is demanding that "his" officers bring a note each and every time they are sick! Yep, if you catch a case of the back door trotters (more commonly known as a 24 hour stomach virus), you better see a doctor and get a note.

What kind of lame brained, Dip Dong, dumb shit idea is this? Does he not realize that most of us cannot get to our doctor within 24 hours for a note? This means all of "his" officers will be off at least 2 days (1 sick and 1 for a doctor's appointment). Further, does he not realize that he doesn't have the authority to change the sick policy? Here's the big one........did Chico approve your changes to "GODwin's Law"?

We suggest that the first officer to challenge this policy also file a lawsuit for discrimination against the City, Willie squared, Chico and Major Hardy. You cannot impose your take on the sick policy to a select few who are covered under a greater authority. We sense a duty change for Hardy is in the works. Let's say somewhere around the 200's car number putting the Alpha shift in service.

Major Hardy will probably receive a nomination for AOTM for this.

Today is 9/11/08. A day in which most of us Americans will take time to reflect on the tragedies of the past. A day in which members of the military will spend on foreign soil, defending the freedoms that you and I enjoy today.

The tragic events of 9/11/01 will forever be etched in the memory of most people, not only in the United States, but the world. It was a day in which the world literally came to a stop. The United States was not free from terror as most of us have come to believe. We were more familiar with domestic terrorism and the rampant crime in the city of Memphis. Some believe our elected leaders failed that day, much like the leaders of Memphis fail us everyday.

Please take time today to reflect on all of the events of September 11, 2001. Not only time to reflect on how this impacted the world, but how this has impacted your life. The way you act towards others today vs. the way you acted prior to 9/11/01. The way we treat our fellow Americans today vs. before 9/11/01.

Also take time today to remember our heroes of the day. The first responders, who charged into the belly of the beast, never to emerge again. The faceless men and women who New Yorkers came to know as their protectors.

We, as Memphis police officers, should strive to increase our public opinion regardless of who is bringing down the ship. We should continue to do our job regardless of someones ethnic, race, religious or sexual orientation. The head of our organization my be rotten, but the body can and MUST fight on! We know what has to be done, so lets do it. We are receiving national negative press now, but the negatives can no longer effect the services we provide.

Let us remember how the brave individuals acted on 9/11/01 as they joined together and charged into hell. Memphis has become our hell and we too must join together. United we stand, divided we fall.

Someone located on the City of Memphis government network is behind the rash of recent attacks on the blog. Obviously, Larry couldn't win his illegal lawsuit fair and square. $750,000 to inflate GODwin's ego?

By now, most of you have seen the news reports that Osama Bin GODwin has enlisted the help of Steven Seagal with recruiting efforts at MPD. It will cost the taxpayers of Memphis $750,000 to run an ad campaign with at least one of the four ad units including Seagal. $750,000 could fund an additional 16 new officers for one year. We must ask ourselves, "what is this going to accomplish"? The answer NOTHING!

This dumb ass publicity stunt will allow Chico more face time on the television. This will detract attention from the fact that he tried to force his jack boot on the throat of America with his attack on free speech. Yes, we won that battle and I know it is becoming old news. Mark my words, it's not over. As long as the #1 terrorist in Memphis resides in the ivory towers at 201 Poplar, crime will increase, morale will cease to exist and the taxpayers will have to pour more out of their pockets.

WWW.Herenton, I have an answer for you. An answer that will not cost Memphis the $750,000 to attract, recruit and retain quality officers. I'll break it down for you below:

1. Fire GODwin.
2. Seek outside of MPD for the next Director.
3. Increase the pay and benefits of current MPD officers.
4. Actually back the officers instead of using your authority to bend the law for self-gain, or
5. Fire yourself!

The above suggestions should not cost that much to put in place. An executive search firm will help you find qualified candidates. They will charge you less than the $750k that Chico will spend bolstering his ego.

As for Steven Seagal, I liked him back in the late 80's when his movies were entertaining. He has become an out of shape actor who hides his weight gain under those ridiculous leather dusters. His martial arts moves are now assisted with camera trickery to make them appear plausible. I don't mean to bag on him, but couldn't Chico find someone with more "star power"? I know they use the same hair products and buy their leather chaps at the same outlet, but damn!

When they served the subpoena on AOL in Virginia, they sent the UNSEALED documents through the courthouse. What does that mean? If you have access to the Louden County, VA courthouse, you can get a copy of the City's case. Why seal them from the citizens of Memphis and not the citizens of Virginia? What a dumb ass!!! They are afraid that the citizens of Memphis will see exactly how stupid Larry and his quest are to unseal my identity. Good luck with that Larry. Every courthouse in America is well versed on the importance of free speech, except in Memphis, Tennessee. What an absolute embarrassment. Chico is still asleep at the wheel. Willie is the fox in the hen house and we are all clucking.

We will also have several thousand "new" citizens thanks to hurricane Gustav. What does that mean for you and I? A pain in the ass couple of days where backyard BBQs turn into RASTLIN and family boxing matches. You know that pork and the son don't mix. Anytime there is a cookout with pork involved, people like to go crazy and pick a fight with whomever is standing around. Be safe and try to find a spot to keep a low profile. I heard tons of shots fired calls last night.

I wanted to share this e-mail we just received from a concerned citizen. We know this is bound to make officers go nuts with comments as we know what's going on with our side. Far too often, we hear these complaints from the public, but never get to tell our side of the story. Here's the e-mail and the comment section is waiting:

I happened upon this blog a while ago during the media reports, and am amazingly grateful to dirk and anyone else involved with it.

However, some of the comments on this blog, from people that I am assuming are officers, scare me almost as much as the corruption in the department.

I was reading through the archives, and noticed a post back in April. Within the comments there were officers saying how they're happy to do nothing all day long, because all of the citizens here don't deserve the help. While I can see where they are coming from, I wish they would keep in mind that some citizens really do depend on them.

I'm a law abiding citizen. I've never been arrested, been pulled over, or given a ticket. But I have a few stories I would like to share with you regarding my correspondence with the MPD.

About 2 years ago, my fiancé and I were awoken in the middle of the night to the sound of gun shots right outside of our bedroom window. He called 911 and was on hold for 15 minutes. Despite that, the officers - all 20 of them - were there in a very admirable time. We told the officers that we had seen that the shots had been fired from a vehicle, and that we heard 2 distinctly different guns being shot. We also told the officers that we had seen the car go down a dead end road, and that they hadn't left yet. The officers didn't care about any of that; instead they just talked to people in the neighborhood to calm them down.

A few months later, my fiancé and my apartment was broken into while we were at work. I wasn't driving at the time, so a coworker had dropped me off and left. When I had noticed that my door was slightly open, I knew not to go inside on the off chance the burglar was still in my home. I called the MPD. I explained to them what had happened, and the very delicate situation I was in. I wasn't sure if there was some one in my apartment, and that if there was some body they could probably hear me talking to them. I didn't have a vehicle so I couldn't leave. I was by myself, a young, 110 lb. female, who probably didn't stand a chance in defending herself. And that I was incredibly scared. I then proceeded to call my mother, who was still at work, my fiancé, and my step-dad in Fayette County. My mother, fiancé, and step-father were there before any officer was. In fact, they were there 20 minutes earlier than the officer. Luckily, there wasn't anyone in my apartment. However, none of our stolen belongings were recovered, and the investigator on the case never felt the need to return any of our phone calls. All we had was a police report, a police report that I not only had to take time off work to get, but had to pay for.

My most recent run in with the law was interesting. My fiancé and I were out shopping, and we noticed an unmarked squad car hop out of a left hand turn lane at a red light, and then kick on his light and fly through the intersection making a left hand turn, not even stopping to see if there was any oncoming traffic. The second he was through the intersection he kicked off his lights. We then noticed that he pulled into a fast food restaurant. My fiancé, being sick of how officers abuse their power, pulled into the parking lot, got out of the car, and took down the officer's plate number to report him. The officer then came out of the restaurant and accosted us. My fiancé told him what he was doing, and why he was doing it. The office then threatened to arrest us, and told us he was on "official police duty. Told us to file our "silly little complaint." and then stomped back into the restaurant, sat down at a table and continued eating with his girlfriend. That doesn't exactly sound like "official police duty" to me. We most likely would not have filed a complaint with the department for the running the red light, even though he could have seriously hurt someone, however, his actions made us think differently. Of course, no one at internal affairs feels the need to call us back.

The only reason why I'm sending you this is so that you will let other officers know that there are still people in this city who depend on them. I understand that there are a lot of people in this city that some people may consider "undeserving," but people like me who pay taxes, follow laws, and can't leave at this point in their lives, deserve to have the police do their jobs. When officers don't do what they signed up for, the innocent people they are supposed to protect can get hurt.

Discipline system gone to shit.

How many times have you been to IAB on a bogus complaint? If you have been on more than a year, probably twice by now. We all know that MPD has a habit of dishing out discipline that is unjust. They would take a complaint from the Easter Bunny if he said you violated him. Then you get charged over the incident at the "precinct" level. You go in for your hearing with your MPA representative and hear the words that have been echoed for years. "Well, downtown wanted to give you 5 days, but I'm going to give you 3. If you appeal this, you will get more than 3 days and lose your appeal. Plus, you'll piss off the 12th floor and be put on the shit list".

If you have heard the above phrase, welcome to the club. In fact, we use to have charge parties for people. The purpose? To raise some needed money for our partners and friends who will not be getting paid for a few days.

We don't condone any wrongful violations of the P&P. We do know that more officers get charged with personal conduct for doing nothing wrong. The conduct is judge by one individual who is usually under pressure from the 12th floor to "SET AN EXAMPLE".

What example is being set? Charge anybody for anything. Rule with an iron fist, even when it's not necessary. I have cut some days in my time. In fact, if Chico knew who I was, I'd be cutting some for sure. Probably fired.

So here comes the advice. Do your job, but don't overdo your job. Document any situation that you feel might go sideways on you. Anytime someone throws out they are related to Larry Godwin, document it with a memo to your Lt. I actually had a M/B tell me he was Godwin's grandson! I nearly fell out of the squad car. SAVE MONEY. I know that is hard to do with a mortgage and family. I know a guy who saved money for when he got charged. Each time he caught some bogus days, he would combine them with his RDOs and go to Cancun. He called his "Z" days extra vacation days. This guy would come back tan and still hungover. All I know is it used to piss off the administration. When you do get back to work, hit em up for all the OT you can get. No DLs or Driving while license Sus/Rev/Can are a dime a dozen.

Now, I don't claim to be an attorney or know all of the rules when it comes to trademark infringement. Chico and the Man have been trying to identify me since April of this year. They used a ruse that I was violating the TN trademark that they have on their version of "Blue Crush". They hired a legal firm (at taxpayer expense) and sent this threatening letter to the makers of our shirts. I have posted a copy of the letter for all of Memphis to see. If you will notice, most of the letter deals with Lawrence and his identity being misused. Yes, Blue Crush is mentioned, but Chico fills most of the narrative. This is just further proof that he is so self consumed that he cannot handle criticism.

At what point will someone on the City Council grow a set of nuts and ask "how much are the taxpayers spending on this wild goose chase"?

Some of you may remember the shirts. Our version of "Blue Crush" doesn't match they city's. Further, they didn't trademark the words for apparel. How much more bullshit is needed. We just received an e-mail from a concerned officer, outlining an MPD Lt.'s quest to cover up his own indiscretions. Congratulations Tisby. You might get selected for the AOTM. This is typical of the administration's do as I say and not as I do policy:

I wanted to make sure you knew about the "scandal" involving Lieutenant (Yep, you heard me) Trevor Tisby. About 2 1/2 years ago, I happened to be sitting in Tommy Turners' officer one morning when his phone rang. It was then-Sgt Trevor Tisby who was, at that time, assigned to Sex Crimes. It seems he had been out in the Wolf Chase area in his take home cruiser with his kids all loaded up and had a traffic crash where he rear ended another motorist.

He rec'd the ticket, of course, but never informed the responding officer that his was a city car. He was cited for no insurance/following too closely. He was trying to get the union president to send someone (Debra Godwin) to court with him THAT DAY.

Well, it seems that Trevor never rectified this situation with the State of Tennessee and his license has been suspended for the last couple of years. Someone ratted him out and he got relieved of duty at some point during the latter part of last week.

I just thought you'd like to know. Perhaps we could start a DUMB ASS OF THE MONTH award for just such occasions.

Where do I start?

I guess we could start by saying we are sorry. We received an e-mail about a case from earlier in 2000. It doesn't have anything to do with the current administration, yet it's a perfect example of how NOT to protect your citizens. I have been wrestling with this story for about a month now. It has rolled around in my head and caused me many restless nights. The kind of story that you wish wasn't true. The kind of story that causes you to lose faith in your protectors. I will briefly explain what has been haunting my "tiny slices of death" (thanks Edgar A. Poe).

I cannot go into much detail as Chico could say "dadgummit! That's an active investigation". Let me assure you, the case was closed "PENDING" years ago.

A young lady was sexually assaulted, beat, stabbed and mutilated in early 2000. A crime savagely committed behind the closed doors of her own home. Her attacker was an unknown male that had followed her home from a club in East Memphis. The attacker made small talk in the parking lot of her duplex and was soon invited inside.

While inside, events turned horrifyingly bad. The attacker struck the victim in the head and choked her until she became unconscious. He then began to experiment with items throughout her home. Not wanting to leave a witness to the crime, the attacker cut her throat and poured cleaning agents on her to cover up DNA. The attacker adjourned into the bathroom to clean the blood from his person.

As the dawn of a new morning approached, the victim's friend showed up early at the home with breakfast in hand. As he approached, the front door was slightly ajar. As the door opened, the friend saw the victim laying in a pool of her own blood. Clinging to life, she called to him, but no sounds left her mouth. The damage to her neck only permitted an inaudible murmur. At that point, the suspect appeared from the bathroom. The friend asked what had happened and the suspect charged the friend in an attempt to flee the scene. The suspect was able to flee, with the friend in pursuit. After a small foot chase, the suspect was able to disappear like the dew of the morning on the grass outside.

The friend rushed back to call 911 and administer first aid. Through his quick thinking, the victim survived. The victim had lost a major amount of blood and suffered a small stroke. This left her with a permanent disability. Now she was forced to bear the scars and physical damage of an event that will never be forgotten.

Stay with me now, here comes the juice.

Thousands of man hours were exhausted in an attempt to locate the suspect. A crime like this deserves the full attention of the MPD. Every officer that worked in the precinct had heard what happened. Several task forces were assigned to help Sex Crimes with the case. The first problem is that it took a sex crimes investigator 30 DAYS to visit the victim and obtain a formal statement.

There were many let downs in this case and it started with the Memphis Police Department. At this point in my reading, I became embarrassed to be associated. Crime Scene did a sloppy job of processing the scene and left evidence behind that should have been seized. The Sex Crimes investigator didn't think it was a solvable case and bent to pressures of a mounting pile of new cases.

Several months went by and the attention/manpower on the case faded. The case was dead in the water. Only a faint memory of that tragic night remained in the mind of all that were involved with the pursuit.

The case was about to be laid to rest until an uneventful morning turned the investigation into a hot potato. The friend of the victim was out shopping at the sundry on Mud Island and made a break in the case. The suspect came face to face with the witness while shopping and was positively identified. There were specific characteristics about the suspect that I cannot reveal as it may violate GODwin's law. Anyway, the friend then called the police and the suspect was apprehended.

The suspect was taken to 201 Poplar for interrogation. During this time, the Duty Chief J.D. King (yep, the property room incident) showed up and wanted to know what was going on. King purportedly was contacted by an attorney and briefed on the situation. The attorney was calling on behalf of the suspect, because the suspect's brother was a Memphis Grizzlies basketball player.

After a brief discussion, investigators were forced (by King) to let the suspect walk free. The suspect lived in another state, but frequented Memphis as his brother played for the Grizzlies. Upon his departure, the suspect stated "I'm never coming back to Tennessee".

Why did King force investigators to kick loose a 100% POSITIVELY identified suspect? It's simple. SEASON TICKETS!!!!

J.D. King was over the property room at the time. Guess was else went missing along with our identified suspect? You guessed it. Critical DNA evidence in the case that could link the suspect to the crime.

I know this sounds like a crime drama, but it's real life. It's life on the Memphis Police Department. We have been dealing with this kind of arrogance and disregard for laws too long. We need to clean up our act and clean up this city. The city council has been neutered. Too many new people on deck without a bat to swing while up to the plate. It's time to call in the designated hitter. Who will that be?

Again, we sincerely apologize to the victim of this crime. All of us are not out for self-enrichment. If we were, we wouldn't (SHOULDN'T) be police officers.

We received the below e-mail and thought it would be a good idea to post. This is a prime example of the idiotic behavior that runs rampant with the leadership in our department. The sender requested that they be identified, but we feel it is in their best interest to remain anonymous. We have redacted some identifying information in the original message.

Hello Dirk, I am the ******** at the Airways Station ***** shift. Just to let you know the c-shift and d-shift in the last month have had a total of 8 sustained statement of charges against officer and still the officers on the shifts continue to check out radar guns. We even had an appeal hearing that was far from fair and impartial. As soon as we walked in the door the Col asked us if we had any new evidence. I simply stated that we are representing evidence to a higher authority. She immediately shook head and stated "well if y'all don't have anything new there is nothing for us to do here". We also had a small episode a few days ago involving a chase. An officer got behind a vehicle that refused to stop doing around 20 mph. The Lt.(Lt. Isabell) immediately said over the air "break off the chase". The driver of the vehicle keep putting up his hands in a surrendering motion while the passenger was observed yelling at the driver. The primary officer discontinued the chase and lost the vehicle. Another officer about five blocks away was driving and the same vehicle ran the officer off the road so he or she immediately got behind it and the passenger bailed out with a gun in his hand. The passenger was caught along with the other occupants. The driver stated to officers that the passenger had a gun and told him if he pulled over he was through. The passenger had 4 warrants. Two for agg assault; 1 for felony possession of firearm and 1 for crim attempt 2nd degree murder. Great catch right!!! Not to Lt Isabell. She made the scene and began scolding the officers for not following the policy on breaking off the chase. Funny, she didn't either. Policy states that, as a supervisor when terminating a chase, the Lt. shall terminate the chase on air. Then they must ask for the primary officers location and mileage. That supervisor is to meet that officer there to verify. She did nothing of the sort, but wanted to belittle the officers for catching the bad guys. No one was hurt and there was no private property damage. Good catch? Nope, she is calling the Major. By the way, there was around $2000 seized with felony dope. Good catch? "Nope, I am calling the major", Isabel stated. We need help dirk. I will keep you posted on the Airways precinct. Also I don't care if my name gets posted. I am **** Airways Delta.

First of all, you must know that everyone at the MPD Enforcer 2.0 supports everything that you did. If the Lt. or Major won't tell you "good job", we will. A positive OBR should be given for a good catch.

Second, remember that Lt. Sharon Isabel is a NO GOOD THIEF! She stole $5,000 in Girl Scout cookie money (from the group she was overseeing), went to Tunica and LOST IT ALL. I'm not telling you to disrespect the Lt. bars, because that will get you into trouble. You don't have to respect her as a person. She is nothing more than a criminal with a badge. She is the 2% of our department that make us look bad. Is she still wearing "jazz" boots with her uniform?

Further, she is one of the many who have sued the department for her promotion. She didn't earn anything. She's as dumb as a mop bucket! You can tell her that I said she's a Dip Dong, just like Chico.

Blue C.R.U.S.H. vs. Compstat

Here's the bottom line. Larry Godwin and Richard Janikowski have fooled the taxpayers and maybe the federal government. We all know Blue Flush doesn't work. It's another taxpayer sinkhole and a Director's mismanagement that gives the appearance MPD is fighting crime. The reality is that this program displaces crime for a week or two. To the average citizen, it means crime will be coming to your streets. If you live in a crime free pocket (doubtful in Memphis) the crime will get pushed into your neighborhoods during “Crushing” 2-3 streets over.

To get a good idea of where Larry Godwin plagiarized the Blue Crush "idea", we need to travel to New York, circa 1994. The following information was obtained from the New York City Police Department’s CompStat program and Wikipedia:

CompStat—or COMPSTAT—(short for COMPuter STATistics or COMParative STATistics) is the name given to the New York City Police Department's accountability process and has since been replicated in many other departments.

CompStat is a multilayered dynamic approach to crime reduction, quality of life improvement, and personnel and resource management. CompStat employs Geographic Information Systems and was intended to map crime and identify problems. In weekly meetings, ranking NYPD executives meet with local precinct commanders from one of the eight patrol boroughs in New York City to discuss the problems. They devise strategies and tactics to solve problems, reduce crime, and ultimately improve quality of life in their assigned area.

Among the Command and Control Center's high-tech capabilities is its computerized "pin mapping" which displays crime, arrest and quality of life data in a host of visual formats including comparative charts, graphs and tables. Through the use of geographic mapping software and other computer technology, for example, the CompStat database can be accessed and a precinct map depicting virtually any combination of crime and/or arrest locations, crime "hot spots" and other relevant information can be instantly projected on the Center's large video projection screens. Comparative charts, tables and graphs can also be projected simultaneously.

In some cases, police departments have started offering information to the public through their own Web sites. In other cases, police departments make an XML feed available to the public which is then displayed on a map using systems such as [CrimeReports.com], used by the Metropolitan Police of Washington DC and many other police departments nationwide.

The following information was obtained directly from the MPD’s Blue Crush propaganda campaign:

The successes of the MPD’s Operation Blue CRUSH pilot operation in 2005 suggested a need for a sustained, integrated law enforcement approach in all parts of the city where street crime has adversely affected the quality of life for our citizens.

The successes of the Memphis Police Department’s Operation Blue CRUSH in 2005 suggested a need for a sustained, integrated law enforcement approach in all parts of the city where street crime has adversely affected the quality of life for our citizens. Operation Blue CRUSH 2005 categorically reduced crime in areas of the city where the methodology was implemented. These “hot spots” of crime were identified using statistical data which allowed us to pinpoint concentrations of criminal activity and better direct our resources.

Blue CRUSH utilizes new partnerships with the University of Memphis and takes advantage of cutting edge technology to create multi-layered crime analysis of “hot spots” based on crime data. Through the Blue CRUSH initiative the MPD has seen a reduction in crime.

With the crime data information provided, the MPD has demanded a higher level of accountability and responsibility from all officers of the department - from the Command Staff to Uniform Patrol.

When Blue CRUSH crime data is analyzed to provide information on the type of crime, day of week, time of day, and the location that the crime is occurring the department is held more accountable and responsible for the crime that occurs across the city. This critical information is used to specifically focus the Memphis Police Department Blue CRUSH resources in new and innovative strategies driven by accountability and responsibility.

Now, what’s this costing the taxpayers? A federal grant in the amount of $2.4 million was given to the U of M and MPD for the Blue Crush data-driven anti-crime initiative. Why are they receiving taxpayer funds for a program that has been around since 1994? Why are the “Laurel and Hardy” of crime fighting trying to trademark someone else’s idea? Why are we spending so much time, effort and money on a flawed program? We’ll let you decide.

At the request of some officers, I'd like to take a moment and redirect back to the purpose of this blog. GODwin's 15 seconds of fame are winding down and we need to focus back on uniformed patrol. This doesn't mean the administration has won a thing. They have been slow to respond over the illegal lawsuit and may have realized that they bit off more than they can chew. You may be able to rule in Memphis, that's why outside counsel was selected. My message to the City and GODwin, YOUR ASS IS ABOUT TO GET HANDED TO YOU!

I digress, some of us have felt that we are stuck in cement. A day in day out of shagging calls and writing reports. With the temperature in Memphis hitting triple digits, it's time to take a break and enjoy some AC.

When taking your break, think about where you're going in life. Where are you headed? Am I in the right career path? Where do I want to be when I retire? Could I make Director? Be honest with yourself and let us know what you think.

Did anyone happen to catch this Dip Dong on Channel 3's Live at 9? Can you say BORING? GODwin spent 40% of the time talking about himself (as usual), 30% discussing his screw ups (ticketgate and illegal suit) and 30% talking about National Night Out. I was amazed that he didn't pimp Blue Crush one time! Maybe we are having an effect on his propaganda campaign? We could only hope.

I do love hearing Chico speak. He makes George W. Bush look like a rocket scientist (sorry W). Larry was visibly upset during the first few minutes of questioning. Tapping on his knees, shifting in his seat and avoiding the questions are all signs of deception. Oh wait, we almost forgot. Larry has been certified a liar by his statement of charges he received. Our bad. He did go to his comfort zone and repeat the same crap he's been talking. "Citizens will understand the lawsuit, blah, blah, blah. Officers have been complaining about the Administration since 1827, blah, blah, blah". He almost let the cat out of the bag when discussing issues on the precinct lot. He didn't tell about choir practice, getting drunk and shooting out parking lights. It's called BEER MUSCLES Larry. Everyone gets bold after a few cold ones.

What Larry didn't say was, "I don't have the balls to stand up to the Mayor and do what's right". Larry, quit attacking the BS issues and work on the real problem. Grow a set of nuts, tell the Mayor that you are running the department (or quit) and rebuild the morale from within. We'll even help you with the first step. During the month of August, we CHALLENGE YOU to visit each and every roll call. When visiting, don't talk about yourself. Talk to the officers and ask what's on their mind. Ask how WE can fix the problem with morale. Hell, just show up and ask us how we are doing? Show some empathy for the thinning blue line. The blue line that keeps the citizens of Memphis safe.

How to fix a ticket 101

So you found yourself in a pickle this month and received a speeding ticket. If you are lucky and connected to the political underbelly of Memphis, you could get help. Just place a call to your sandwich maker's daddy and POOF! Just pay the court costs. No fine, no raise in your car insurance and nothing on your record.

For those of you who aren't that lucky, let us hip you to a few things about City Traffic Court. First, most officers don't enjoy writing tickets. It's been directed at some stations and at Appling Farms, officers MUST write 2 tickets a day.

If you receive a ticket, more than likely you were doing something wrong. For the sake of discussion, we'll focus on speeding tickets. If your responding officer is not a "COMPANY" man, he will probably write you for 5 mph over. That way, he/she gets the stats they need to remain off the radar. But wait, you still got a ticket.

Take the ticket to court on the day listed at the bottom of your citation. Most 5 mph over tickets are dismissed with court costs before the judge even sits on the bench. That's good for you and Mr. Greer. You won't get out clean, but your violation will not hit your driving record or your insurance. This will save you money in the long run.

For all officers reading this story, UNITE! We know you have the rookies and the ass kissers that will write 100+ tickets a month. Have a strong talk with them. Let the "ROOK" know that he is throwing off the shift averages. This makes the whole shift look bad and causes extra heat on officers. Let him know that he is helping nobody by his actions. If you must write a citation, make it a courtesy. If it's Friday and you are in a Radar Car, write courtesy citations. What can they do? Put you in a Radar Car again? They did it to me several times and I kept turning in courtesy tickets. I enjoyed not handling the report calls. You will get the stat for the stop and will show productivity. A silent protest! You will have more than enough accident investigations in a month for your scheduled court date.

Well, "Dip Dong" GODwin is grasping at straws again. He has now coaxed DA Bill Gibbons into seeking assistance from the TBI to identify Dirk Diggler. After failed attempts at internal investigations and an illegal civil suit, Larry thinks he will still get his man. Move to Canada and become a RCMP mountie! I've said it once (more than), we have never violated ANY laws, nor posted information on active CRIMINAL investigations. I cannot speak to Thad's blog as we are not involved with his "tips". Law enforcement officers know the important process of prosecution and the harmful release of such information. Get a grip Chico and find another way. The only way you will find out Dirk's identity is when filling out the check from the City of Memphis. It will be listed in the section marked "payable to".

Gibbons should be worried about his next slogan or dip dong idea to scare straight criminals in Memphis. "Gun crime equals jail time". Bullshit Billy is your new moniker. Show us some stats from any of your initiatives since you have been the DA. Your inability to "get tough" on crime has made CJC a revolving door for habitual offenders. Get 3 six Mafia to do a PSA. I know DJ Paul if you want me to get you an appointment.

Let me give a shout out to the TBI. I've worked well with you guys in the past and know many of you will not fall for this political BS. Stand your ground and demand a complaint showing criminal activity has occurred in connection with the MPD Enforcer. This is another attempt by the Director to cover up his blunder and his black eye.

Larry Godwin has been consumed by his own ego, BS and the fact that his fiefdom may be falling. He's comments to the media have been vague, often misleading. He continues to throw up hope that the citizens will get behind his screw up and support the decision to violate our rights. Chico's placing too much hope in the following response: "reasons will be clear when the case is unsealed". Well then unseal that document big boy. Show us your cards, if you will. It won't matter anyway. We are holding a Royal Flush and you have been the dealer all along. The worst part of all, you have allowed the taxpayers to become your bank!

So what does Larry have up his sleeve? His Ace in the hole? NOTHING!!! The only card left in his deck is the Joker and they aren't wild in this game of Texas Hold Em. Keep you cards close to your chest Larry. Maybe this will blow over? (More like blow up in his face).

My eyes started to bleed today as I read the bullshit emitting from Larry's comments to the media. Everyone please remember, Larry cannot tell the truth. He has been charged for lying before (truthfulness) and he's publicly pulling a stunt. Now, all of America will realize that he wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit him in the ass.

The Commercial Appeal quoted Larry today as saying, “I never have read it. I don’t go on Web sites. I don’t read blogs. I’ve got enough e-mail to keep me busy.” BULLSHIT!!!! Let's do a forensic search of your hard drive. What kind of cookies would be listed in the data files. Who hasn't checked their City of Memphis Credit Union account while at work? Who hasn't gone to Malco.com to see when their movie begins? Who was seen checking the Commercial Appeal online edition while in Ireland? Excuse me, didn't you get your degree ON-LINE?? BUSTED!!!!

Lawrence went on to showoff his online degree by stating the following:

“I don’t think there’s trouble within the department,” he said. “I think you’ve just got a handful of officers who want to voice their opinions.

“My gosh, they’ve been talking about the police administration since 1827,” he said. “It’s just an avenue for officers to talk.”

Come on hayseed. Get the toothpick from your mouth next time you address the media. How embarrassing. Larry then went on to try and address Officer Pryor's comments to the media:
“I’m not looking to do anything to Sampson Pryor,” said Godwin, who said he went through the police academy with Pryor years ago.

But, he said, the officer commented on an ongoing investigation, which, unless authorized by a supervisor, would be a violation of department policy.

“He needs to write a memo to explain why he did what he did.” Memo this! I will have to check my Policies and Procedures on that. I believe his comments were made before the investigation from CITY HALL had even started. Besides, doesn't that just apply to MPD investigations? (Don't everybody hammer me at once, I might have been a "half asleep" on that day at the Academy.) What the city is looking into is ethics violations, not criminal. Dip Dong!

In closing, I would like to take this time and address some of the comments being placed within this blog. Several powers are at work trying to disrupt, discredit and shut down this blog. This blog was created by officers for officers and the general public. We welcome feedback and even encourage debate with our stories. We DO NOT approve of ANY racial comments. Further, we feel that it may be necessary for some of the individuals to censor themselves. We are not in the business of promoting racial hatred. We are in the business of protecting and serving our community. Our community is looking to us for hope right now. Hope that there are some good people at work for Memphis and her people.

Has anyone seen GODwin lately? Did he flee the country in an effort to avoid "prosecution" by the media? He should be back at home. What type of leader causes havoc, leaves town and has his "people" deal with the mess. This type of behavior is typical of GODwin's regime. It's time for a regime change! The citizens need a new Director. The voting began a few days ago and 94% (+/-) are ready for GODwin to leave.

This city needs new leadership from the top down. The Mayor has allowed this dip dong to utilize the city as his private legal and publicity firm. We all know that Lawrence like to be on TV. Does he like how this is being portrayed in the public eye? Blue Crush is not going to help him on this either. We expected to see a snazzy named operation to make headlines this weekend. An operation to lessen the attention of negative press. A smoke and mirrors crime fighting campaign to hype up the good work Larry is doing. It appears that the caped crusader of the 12th floor is about to meet his kryptonite.

How much will this cost the taxpayers? Larry didn't think about that before pulling this stunt. I'm sure he thought to himself "I'm Larry Godwin. I'm the dadgum Director of this here police department. What I say goes"!

In the words of Larry Godwin, "I am outraged and the citizens of Memphis should be outraged"! Think before you act next time jackass.

The above B.O.L.O. should be placed on the Lt.'s readout board for the daily read out. Just kidding. We know that it would be absurd for officers to be looking for Mark Walhberg, but that is the insanity within the MPD leadership. Frivolous requests for impossible information. Resquests for officers to do the will of the Director (and Mayor). True, we are civil servants and paying a high price for servitude. At what point do we say "enough is enough"? I think we have passed that point. We are headed down the slippery slope and the MPD Enforcer 2.0 is trying to cast out a lifeline.

The recent events have deterred some officers from visiting and contributing over fear of being revealed. The illegal requests from GODwin and the city are for my identification. They cannot obtain information on visitors or people posting anonymous comments. Let me assure the officers who have contributed in the past, I will NEVER give up your identifying information. I will NEVER cooperate in an illegal attempt to silence our plight. This is the fight we wanted. The good fight. A fight to unite us all from within. A fight to rid our department of tyranny and personal conquests at climbing the rank ladder. We need to be promoted for what we know, not who we know.

The promotional process at the MPD has been virtually non-existent. When a process is held, it's often flawed, compromised or poorly planned. Officers should not have to use personal time to sit for a departmental test that will better their career. Officers should not be subjected to the 12th floor picking and choosing who gets promoted based on personal relationships. Each time, we are plagued by the same issues. Having the U.S. Marshal service escort a POLICE promotional exam is embarrassing.

We don't claim to have all the answers. An independent body needs to be established. One that is independent from the City of Memphis government pressure. One that can evaluate the issues without Mayoral intervention. One that the citizens can trust as making an unbiased decision without the fear of reprisals. This body should be able to police the administration with authority to rule in the event of foul play. A Citizen Review Board of sorts.

But who would pick the citizens? The Mayor? The Director? Should it be an elected position? We find problems with all of the approaches. The reason? Trust. Nobody trusts anyone like they used to. What has happened to us? What has happened to Memphis? Why can't we pull together as a community and conquer this plagued called CORRUPTION?

First of all, let me give credit to cravenscartoon.com for the above image. This is why Herenton cannot even see that his choice of leadership within MPD is despicable. Willie's head is in the clouds while the rest of Memphis is burning. No, his head is really up his ass and that's NOT a rain cloud headed his way. The cloud is more like a tornado of devastation, seeking to leave a pathway of freedom in it's wake. The ongoing assault by the City of Memphis and Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin against the United States Constitution are the violent shaking that this city needs to wake up, unite and prosper.

W.W. Herenton (sounds like the beginning of a web address) was quoted by the CA today in regards to the illegal request about our identities. Willie said, "there are "serious issues" behind police Director Larry Godwin's legal quest to uncover the identities behind a blog critical of the police department". Then why wasn't it a criminal court subpoena for information? The only seriousness, in this case, is a blatant attempt from a city government and Director of police services to quash the 1st Amendment.

Let me assure the public, and go on record, no criminal activity has been born from this site. Nobody has any ties to terrorist activity, nor do we support any illegal association. We are merely employees who have had it with the downward spiral of morale and pride in our department. Most of us will not identify our occupation in social settings for fear that the audience would find us as a heavy handed storm trooper.

We feel that we can speak for the majority of Uniformed Patrol, as they are the purpose for this blog. We want to take pride in our city, our department and ourselves. A new day is on the horizon for Memphis. A day when we can look at police officers as a symbol of trust, respect and compassion. We are not looking to be placed on a pedestal, as the Mayor has poised himself. We only wish to be lifted from the burning ashes that is the Memphis Police Department. Lifted back into the community as partners for a common good. A common good that will once again describe the citizens and community of Memphis.

According to the media, Larry has left the country. Are you kidding? You create this public fiasco and you leave the country? Is this the example of fine leadership that Memphians have come to know? Other sources think that Larry is attempting to keep his wife Nina from knowing the truth about his past. A past FULL of lies and deceit. We have posted the statement of charges from when Lawrence was in a patrolmen (please see our April archive for Larry's IAB file). Charges that include TRUTHFULNESS, which means he will not be allowed to testify in Federal Court. How can you have a leader of a police department who can't even testify in court? What does the MPD have to hide?

It has been a common practice for the administration to cover up political incidents in an attempt to climb the ladder of power within the department. A while back, an anonymous poster touched on one such event.

As you may recall, Ashley Scott was allegedly beaten to death by her husband after a heated argument on Thanksgiving day. The argument was initiated over text messages she received from an "unknown" male. What did these messages say? Who were they from? Well, there are a select few MPD employees who made the scene or worked the investigation that know. In fact, a certain Lt. was instructed to delete the messages after the number was recognized. Since deleting this number, that Lt. was promoted to one of the newly created Colonel positions within MPD. Who's number was it? Could they have been responsible for what happened to Mrs. Scott? We'll let the readers formulate their own opinion.

If the number belong to a high ranking MPD official and this number was a department issued/paid for phone, records should be available. If these records could be located, who do you think will be identified? Is this the type of information the City of Memphis and Larry Godwin are trying to protect?

The MPD Enforcer 2.0 has selected Public Citizen Litigation Group, the litigating division of Public Citizen, a public interest advocacy group that was founded by Ralph Nader in 1971, to represent our blog in the ongoing legal issues. The lead counsel in this effort is Paul Levy. We have borrowed some background on Mr. Levy from the website www.citizen.org.

Paul Alan Levy is an attorney with the Public Citizen Litigation Group, a public interest law firm that was founded by Ralph Nader in 1971. Among the issues on which the group litigates are federal health and safety regulation, consumer litigation, open government, union democracy, separation of powers, and the First Amendment. PCLG litigates cases at all levels of the federal and state judiciaries and has a substantial practice before federal regulatory agencies.

After working as a law clerk to Honorable Wade H. McCree, Jr. (United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit) and Special Assistant to Solicitor General McCree, Mr. Levy joined the Litigation Group in December 1977 to represent workers in rank-and-file labor law cases, largely representing dissident union members in cases involving union governance. City of Memphis may have violated our rights!

Thanks to some help from a local reporter (we will keep the name anonymous so he doesn't get harassed and sued) we were able to locate where the words "Blue Crush" were trademarked. Loyal readers will remember that we offered the above T-shirts some months ago. Once the City of Memphis (and possibly Director GODwin) caught wind of this, a threatening letter was sent to the supplier on official letterhead. The letter demanded our account be closed due to infringing on their trademark. As you can see above the shirt, the approved logo used by GODwin and the City of Memphis does not resemble the logo that we used. Were our rights violated? Did the City improperly force the closing of our account and loss of revenue? You be the judge. The plot thickens.

We have received an overwhelming number of e-mails in support of our effort. The City of Memphis and Larry Godwin wish to take this battle to the courtroom. All to learn the identity of people who have been responsible for discussing issues that effect them everyday. It pains us to believe that we live in America and a Director of Police services can use his position (and possibly tax payers dollars) to launch a personal vendetta against this site and the 1st Amendment.

At this point, we are uncertain of where this legal issue may go. We have been in contact with the ACLU, The First Amendment Center, and various attorneys. However, the latter wish to assist us with the battle for a fee. Therefore, we have created a way in which to raise capital for what could be a landmark fight! We have created T-shirts for supporters to purchase through an on-line outlet. This outlet produced shirts for us early this year until the City of Memphis attorneys (purportedly at the direction of Godwin) wrote a threatening letter to the company on city letterhead. The company quickly caved and we have negotiated a new agreement.

In what could be a landmark case of privacy and the 1st Amendment, GODwin has illegally used his position and the City of Memphis as a ram to ruin the Constitution of the United States! Some members of the Enforcer 2.0 have contacted their attorneys and we are in the process of filing a lawsuit against Larry and the City of Memphis. What's wrong Larry? The truth hurt?

We've all seen this smokescreen before. Anytime the Director comes under fire (fixing tickets) he asks his boys to round up some bad guys. Why shouldn't they be rounded up all the time? I'm still trying to figure out why they seized someone's long guns from their house if no drugs were found. I wasn't there, but the CA stated that only guns were seized from the residence.

We received an e-mail today from a loyal reader that has tipped us to many stories in the past. Some of you have commented in other areas of our site about this and we feel it deserves front page attention. Chico has done it again. The story below must be another Blue Crush initiative:

Two weeks ago local businessman Bradley Greer appeared in City Court on driving 19 miles over the speed limit. Greer didn't want to stand in line like other citizens and kept trying to go to the front of the line outside the courtroom of Judge Jayne Chandler. One of the two City of Memphis police officers who handles security for the courtroom Officer K.J. Brown noticed the man on his cell phone trying to break the line and ordered him to get in line like everyone else. At the point the Greer read the officer's name tag and mentioned it to the person he was speaking with on the phone. When the officer inquired as to who he was giving his name to Greer stated to the officer "Director Godwin will be down to take care of you". Officer Brown mentioned this incident to the senior officer in the courtroom Officer S.F. Pryor III whose been on the force for 29 years. Pryor told Brown to do his job and treat Greer like any other citizen. Shortly after court started and Judge Chandler was on the bench Deputy Chief Jim Tusant entered the courtroom with Greer,by passed the judge and went over to the City Prosecutor to address ticket #Q409632. Tusant asked that the ticket be dismissed and it was. Never even regarding Judge Chandler, Tusant and Greer left the courtroom. At this point the judge inquired of Officer Pryor as to why Tusant was in her courtroom. Pryor told the judge what Tusant had just done as part as having Greer's ticket dismissed. Judge Chandler became livid and told the Prosecutor that Tusant was out of order and that Greer was going to treated the same as any other citizen no matter who he knows. Chandler ordered that the ticket be returned to the docket and that Greer appear before her. The date for Greer to return to court was this past Thursday July 3,2008. In the mean time I'm told that Judge Chandler sent a letter to Police Director Larry Godwin telling him that she will not allow him to fix tickets in her courtroom and that she had returned Greer's case to her docket. I'm also told that Chandler requested his appearance in her courtroom also on July 3,2008. Earliar this week I received a call from a close business associate who stated to me that Police Association attorney Ted Hansom had been in contact with him,and knew that the two of us were friends. I was told that Hansom had said that there was really nothing to the case and that the ticket had been paid. It was apparent from my conversation with my business associate that there was the wish that I not be present in the courtroom on Thursday morning. Seeing that a private citizen and not a police officer had received the ticket I couldn't understand what Hansom's role was. But when I got to Judge Chandler's courtroom on Thursday morning I found out. It appears that Ted Hansom is representing Bradley Greer who was not present on Thursday morning. I'm told that Larry Godwin was on vacation so he was also unable to appear. The hearing has been reset to August 5,2008. The question here is why is Godwin and Tusant attempting to fix a ticket,and what is the relationship between Godwin and Greer. I'm told that Greer owns a restaurant that officers frequent but I have not been able to prove that...yet. The Police Director and his command staff getting involved in ticket fixing should send a signal to mayor Herenton that it's time to make a change. How can police officers ticket citizens when the Police Director is allowed to fix tickets for his friends. The Director was so upset with the officers in Judge Chandler's court for telling her what went on, that the officers whose only job is court security were sent outside 202 Poplar to write tickets on their lunch break.
